Steve Young

If you ask Steve Young what his plans are for the future of his racing career, he'll probably say "building a winning reputation." By the looks of it, the 25-year-old is well on his way. Since being bitten by the racing bug as a youth, Young kicked off his competitive dirt track rounds in 1993 with a modified run that established him as one of the circuit's most gritty and determined new faces.

Although, unlike his last name, Young is out to gain the racing savvy, experience and results found on resumes of the racing world's toughest veterans.

"This kid has the whole package; desire, willingness, professionalism and a winning attitude."
Billy Laverty -
Dirt Modified Driver

Just look at the tracks themselves: Grandview, Big Diamond, Bridgeport, Flemington, East Windsor, Susquehanna, New Egypt, Daytona. Wait…DAYTONA? That's right. Young visited the southern racing haven for a test session at Daytona International Speedway on 12/19/98, driving Wayne Peterson's car at an average of 175 mph. And it wasn't Terry Labonte driving that machine, but the kid from Collegeville, PA!

In 1997, Young invested in one of Mike DeMedio's big-block modified cars, formerly driven by the (in)famous Billy Pauch and Steve Bottcher. Armed with a ride that was used to aggressive driving and wielding an appetite whetted by months spent handing out promotional flyers and drumming up the support with the likes of Bill Clark / President Clark Motorsports, Steve continued his consistent showings in the local circuit.

"There isn't a fence big enough to hold this kids' heart in.
He is a natural."

- Nascar / ARCA Driver

After a two-year stretch driving Modifieds / Sportsmans at the top PA and NJ DIRT tracks, 1999 finally afforded Young the opportunity to compete in the ARCA practices and two ARCA / Bondo / Mar-Hyde Short Track races.

In taking the wild and fast high banks of Daytona, Young qualified for his ARCA Master License, which qualifies him to race at all levels of the series. He's now looking for an aggressive team and a safe ride, while actively campaigning for national and local sponsors in his enthusiastic "race" for success.
