Steve Young approaches his auto-racing activities with high levels of intensity, confidence in his abilities, and pride in his accomplishments.

Steve just wants the opportunity to get out on the racetrack on a regular basis, sharpen his driving skills, showcase his talentand promote a professional image.

"I'm willing to drive NASCAR modifieds, DIRT modifieds, ARCA, Hooters Cup, any truck series," he said. Young's not bashful about making his intentions known, either. Several years ago, he tried the unique strategy of preparing flyers that spell out the needs and assets of his racing operation, then distributing them at tracks in an attempt to get his message out.

The advertising campaign could be paying dividends. Young noted he has been approached by Paul Stevenson Motorsports about driving one of the two racers he wants to campaign in the Hooters Cup - a series situated between ARCA and NASCAR's Busch Grand.

"I got confidence off the (flyers)," the 25-year-old Young, owner of a landscaping and contracting business in the Collegeville area, said. "I'm at the level where I should get a ride this off season for 1999 / 2000 ."

"You never know what this kid is going to pull out of his bag of tricks. No matter what, he seems to be up front."

Steve Young settled into the groove quickly at the Bridgeport, NJ oval during his complete run in the track's 1997 full schedule. Tucking the third week of heat racing under his belt, Young finished 38th in the division's point standings and set a blistering track record flying around the 5/8-mile track in 23.1 seconds and at the breathless clip of 97.40 mph. And all this while hanging onto the outer edge of the track - Young's signature racing style and one that's sure to send him ricocheting past his competition in the upcoming season.
